WACO — A bomb disposal team from Fort Hood has removed a suspicious device police found in a pickup during a routine traffic stop at a Waco intersection.
The scene about a block from the Waco Independent School District bus lot was closed for several hours overnight as authorities from the Army base determined it was safer to take the device to Fort Hood instead of exploding it at the scene.
Police Commander Claire Crook told Waco television station KWTX they initially planned to shoot the package rather than risk moving it.
