‘NRA 500 will be race, not gun rally’
FORT WORTH — Texas Motor Speedway officials say next weekend’s NRA 500 will be a typical NASCAR race — not a gun rally.
Saturday’s Sprint Cup race has drawn national media attention for its new name and title sponsor: the National Rifle Association gun-rights advocacy group.
But speedway president Eddie Gossage tells the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that “it’s another race for us, and it’s just like all the others in so many ways.”
This isn’t the first time the NRA has sponsored a race.
