DALLAS (AP) — Gov. Rick Perry spoke Sunday from the pulpit of First Baptist Church Dallas as part of dedicating its new downtown campus, saying it deserved praise for its “powerful message.”
It has a 3,000-seat auditorium and a 150-foot-wide screen.
“This is the way we do it in Texas,” Perry said.
The Rev. Robert Jeffress, church pastor, said he thought about using the occasion to endorse Perry as a 2016 presidential candidate. Jeffress then quipped: “But you know how that turned out the last time.”
