Chain restaurants and corporate business ventures are quickly outnumbering Lubbock’s mom-’n-pop shops, and while some local owners are feeling the pressure, others are reaping the benefits.
“Obviously, there are pros and cons to when chain versus non-chain opens up,” said John Osborne, CEO of the Lubbock Economic and Development Alliance. “It brings in competition that can be challenging if you’re not a chain.”
Franchised businesses often have access to resources small business owners don’t.
