The Lubbock City Council will take a look at two utility rate proposals when it meets Thursday, Jan. 23, but only one really matters.
The council will receive an update in executive session on Atmos Energy’s request to increase its monthly charge to natural gas customers, from its current $13.50 to $18.
The council has suspended action on the rate increase.
And the council is also expected to vote down Amarillo-based Xcel Energy’s request for a rate increase — a request that apparently would affect one customer — after a public hearing.
