AMARILLO (AP) — West Texas A&M’s athletic director says the NCAA is investigating after the university reported violations found during an internal audit of the football program.
Michael McBroom said Wednesday that the Canyon, Texas, school self-imposed sanctions on the program after reviewing the audit.
The announcement comes about two weeks after the Football Championship Subdivision school fired coach Don Carthel. McBroom said the NCAA investigation is unrelated to the incident that led to Carthel’s firing.
