AMARILLO — The first Amarillo-area station for feeding weather data into a broad network came to life Friday, May 31, and its creators dedicated it Monday, June 3.
Located about 9 miles southwest of Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport, the station is the 75th addition to the West Texas Mesonet.
“This has been a dream of mine to have all these stations in West Texas and eastern New Mexico,” said Wes Burgett, manager of the Mesonet.
“We built the first one 13 years ago.”
