AUSTIN – The Texas House Select Committee on Redistricting plans to hold hearings across the state, but the likelihood of Lubbock or any other West Texas community hosting one is slim at least in the next few weeks.
Committee chairman Drew Darby, R-San Angelo, said he is drafting a schedule and the cities tentatively agreed during a 90-minute Saturday, June 1, hearing were Dallas, Houston and San Antonio, the largest in the state and the metropolitan areas where most of the two-year redistricting fight is centered on.
