A proposed performing arts center is welcome news to Lubbock leaders, especially as the $85-million, privately-funded project planned for downtown Lubbock takes the spotlight off the city’s deteriorating City Bank Auditorium.
Leaders already expect the recently proposed 2,000-seat venue to be an economic and cultural boost for the city, even with such looming tasks as raising an additional $65 million in private funding, getting the Lubbock City Council’s blessing to use city land in downtown Lubbock and figuring out parking issues.
