The seventh-grade class of Shallowater Middle School is hosting a Walk 4 West on Saturday, May 4, to help the recovery efforts of West, Texas, which was hit by the April 17 explosion at a local fertilizer manufacturing plant.
Students also will be selling homemade ice cream to benefit the family of Loran Coats, the 16-year-old Shallowater High School student killed April 16 in a pickup truck wreck.
Registration for the walk and ice cream service will begin at 7:30 p.m. The walk, which will have a one-mile route and a two-mile route, will begin 8:30 p.m.
