Tubby Smith may be on the verge of naming the first assistant on his first coaching staff at Texas Tech.
Alvin “Pooh” Williamson, who has spent time as an assistant at Texas A&M, SMU and, most recently, TCU was spotted on Tech’s campus Tuesday and is expected to join Smith’s staff.
Williamson coached at A&M for four seasons under Mark Turgeon and helped lead the Aggies to four NCAA Tournament at-large bids.
At A&M, Williamson coached current NBA star DeAndre Jordan (Clippers).
Williamson, 39, played for Smith at Tulsa in the 1990s.
