ABILENE — Texas Tech thrower Hannah Carson won the women’s shot put, discus and javelin competitions, and the Tech and South Plains College men’s teams won seven events apiece Saturday in the Wes Kittley Invitational.
Carson threw 48 feet, 1/2 inch in the shot put, 180-1 in the discus and 163-0 in the javelin.
In the men’s 200 meters, South Plains’ Lestrod Roland ran a time of 20.19 seconds, and Tech’s Trevor Mackey was second in 20.47, both with a 3.6 meters per second tailwind. Mackey’s was the fastest wind-aided 200 in Tech history.
