The Daughters of the Republic of Texas, General James Smith Chapter, will celebrate its 60th anniversary by viewing the past from scrapbooks so large that some have to be packed into suitcases for transport.
The members will gather from 2 to 3:30 p.m. April 28, at 4902 84th St.
According to records provided by Charlotte Moody, president of the chapter, the charter was actually received April 14, 1954, in the home of Ione Mosley Hutchinson, as a part of the state organization’s District 1. It now is in District 10.
