Texas Department of Public safety troopers were diverting traffic Tuesday afternoon, April 1, for about an hour at a road to the east of Lubbock after a pickup truck hit an electric pole and a gas meter.
DPS officials said gas was leaking and troopers were directing traffic as crews fixed the damaged meter.
Troopers were called about 3:20 p.m. to the scene of the crash at 6313 E. FM 40 where a pickup truck struck an electric pole, officials said.
The driver was taken by ambulance to University Medical Center.
