AUSTIN — Veteran state Sen. Leticia Van de Putte is well-known in South Central Texas but many West Texas voters might not know her as well. Some have probably never even heard of her.
But the San Antonio Democrat, who is running for lieutenant governor, is ing on becoming a familiar statewide candidate.
Van de Putte, who visited Amarillo in January, will be in Lubbock next week. She is in a 15-city bus tour that is also taking her to Midland and Wichita Falls, a sign her party is not conceding West Texas — the state’s reddest region — to Republicans.
