According to printed reports published in The Frenship Gazette, Wolfforth got its first bank in a hurry.
Following months of work, a bank charter was granted for Wolfforth State Bank by the State Banking Board on September 6, 1962. On the afternoon of September 10, 1962, around 2 p.m., it was determined that legal difficulties in obtaining the bank charter facilitated a decision that the Wolfforth State Bank must be open for business at 9 a.m. on September 11th in a temporary location of the J.R. Morris building on Main Street in Downtown Wolfforth.
