LEVELLAND — Up 18 points with just more than three minutes to play, Plains head coach Randy Henderson knew the last thing he and his team could afford to do was coast – even with a trip to Austin in Plains’ sight.
Clarendon made sure no one took it easy down the stretch, providing plenty of drama before ultimately falling as the Plains girls basketball team made school history by securing its first trip ever to the UIL state tournament with a 49-41 triumph in the Region 1-1A Division I championship game Saturday at the Texan Dome.
