PEARLAND (AP) — Authorities say a pilot who died this week when his twin-engine plane burst into flames after crashing south of Houston was from Alabama.
The Texas Department of Public Safety tells the Austin American-Statesman 39-year-old Joe Frank Lassiter III of Mountain Brook, Ala., died Wednesday after his Beechcraft King Air plane crashed in a field near Pearland Regional Airport. Officials say he was killed instantly.
The plane was flying from Austin to Galveston’s Scholes International Airport when the pilot diverted to Pearland due to low visibility in Galveston.
