LEVELLAND — Michael Karena was the leader among five double-digit scorers for South Plains College as the Texans beat Frank Phillips College 78-64 Thursday night, winning for the fourth time in their last five games.
South Plains (24-4, 11-3) remained tied for first place in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference with Howard College (23-5, 11-3), which won 67-59 at New Mexico Military Institute. If the two teams finish tied, South Plains has the head-to-head tiebreaker over Howard, having swept the two conference games from the Hawks.
