Maybe the worst thing that could have happened to the Coronado boys basketball team in its game against Tascosa on Jan. 28 was halftime.
The Mustangs had played well in the first half and led the 22nd-ranked Rebels 32-29 going into the intermission. After halftime, the Mustangs could not regain that momentum as Tascosa took control and captured a 66-61 victory to regain sole control of the District 2-5A lead.
“I think may we’d started to leak before halftime, but we didn’t start the third quarter very well,” Coronado coach Randy Dean said.
