Seven Lubbock city parks are slated to get new playground equipment this year.
The city’s parks and recreation department has more than a dozen projects scheduled including new rest rooms, pavilions and walking tracks for the city’s park facilities for 2014.
The first parks to get new playground equipment this year are Chatman Park and Hinojosa Park. The work started in January and is expected to finish in May.
District 1 Councilman Victor Hernandez said the work is part of a decades-long undertaking to replace the city park’s aging playground equipment.
