AUSTIN — Considering their tough races of two years ago, not having challengers in the March 4 Republican primary or a Democratic opponent in the Nov. 4 general election is a welcome development for state Reps. Ken King and Drew Springer.
Besides spending more time with their families and in their districts, running unopposed — though King insists he has a Libertarian Party of Texas opponent in November — allows them to make a living. After all, the monthly salary for each member of the Texas Legislature is $600.
