A cold snap hit Lubbock to remind residents that it is still winter on the South Plains. According to the National Weather Service, that reminder will be short lived.
Lubbock metorologist Gary Skwira said overnight temps on Wednesday, Jan. 22, were forecast to sink dramatically and the windchill for Thursday morning, Jan. 23, was predicted to be zero.
“Today was kind of a transition day,” he said about Wednesday.
Today’s high is predicted to reach 28, with temperatures rising Friday, Jan. 24, to the mid-40s, according to the forecast.
