In the first two District 4-4A games, the Monterey boys basketball team has surrendered 44 points to Marcos Schuster and 23 points to Payton Gonzales of Hereford.
Still, Plainsmen head coach David Chapman thinks his defense continues to improve, probably due to the fact that in those two games no other Tiger or Whiteface scored in double digits.
“We’re doing some good things there,” Chapman said. “I know it’s hard to show in two games where you give up 44 to one player and the other had 23, but overall we’re improving.”
