The Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Council of Lubbock has outlined four distinct celebrations to honor the civil rights activist of the 1960s.
They will begin with an Individuals of Distinction Award Banquet at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, in Lubbock Memorial Civic Center, and conclude with a Gospel Night program at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, at the Greater St. James Baptist Church, 117 N. Mulberry Ave.
