Levelland City Council has a new set of citizen-participation rules, but they don’t have a mayor willing to follow them.
Mayor Waymon Jackson told the council Thursday night, Jan. 2, he remains opposed to the procedures.
Jackson initially requested one of the three councilmen present issue a motion to cancel the proposal. Before they instead approved the rules with a unanimous vote during the specially-called meeting, he told them he won’t abide with them.
“Before you vote, I want to promise you that I will be violating the rules,” he said.
