There was snow on the ground near the community of Old Emma in Crosby County 100 years ago, and Jimmie Lee Moorhead’s father was equal to the task of getting a doctor out to the farm to preside over the birth of his new daughter.
Moorhead said her family has kept the account going until today, Tuesday, Dec. 24, when she will be celebrating 100 years of good health.
When the birth was imminent, her father turned the kitchen table upside down to make a sled, hitched his horses to it and brought the doctor back on the table.
