AMARILLO (AP) — Winter driving conditions have improved in the Texas Panhandle and officers reopened two main roadways that were closed for part of the weekend.
The Texas Department of Public Safety on Sunday morning reopened U.S. 287 north of Amarillo and Interstate 40 west to the New Mexico border.
Sr. Trooper Chris Ray says a 45-mile stretch of U.S. 287 northbound from Amarillo to Dumas (DOO'-mus) closed Saturday after about 20 traffic accidents. Nobody was killed in the wrecks during icy conditions.
