Letter: Costs of Medicaid expansion

Re: The editorial “Texas leaders need to make some decisions regarding Affordable Care,” A-J, 3-22.

Accepting federal dollars to cover more hard-working Texans on Medicaid is something counties, medical leaders and chambers of commerce across Texas all support.

Contrary to your editorial, the federal government picks up at least 90 percent of the costs of extending Medicaid to more low-income Texans. In fact, the cost to Texas for the first three years is nothing because federal dollars will cover the whole bill.
