Our View: Audits show TEA didn't prevent cheating as well as it should have

It’s no surprise a U.S. Department of Education audit concluded the Texas Education Agency could have done a better job of policing cheating on standarized student assessment tests.

The Education Department had to look no further than the cell of Lorenzo Garcia, the former superintendent of the El Paso Independent School District.

Garcia currently is serving a three-year prison sentence for fraud in connection with the district’s manipulation test scores.
