Jesse Johns scored 20 points and Estacado, ranked No. 12 in Class 3A, posted a 79-53 home victory Tuesday night against Idalou, ranked No. 14 in Class 2A.
Ryan Castillo and Christian Bennings scored 12 points apiece for the Matadors (3-3), who made 12 3-point goals. Robert McKinney added 10 points.
Idalou got 15 points from Callan Johnson, 13 from Zac Fitzgerald and 11 from Ryan Bruington.
The game was tied after one quarter before Estacado used a big run to take a 48-30 halftime lead. Johns sparked the Mats’ second-quarter surge with 12 points.
