SAN ANTONIO (AP) — State Sen. Leticia Van de Putte is making it official.
The Democrat from San Antonio is expected to announce her run for lieutenant governor Saturday before a hometown crowd at a college gymnasium.
She'll be the running mate of her state Senate colleague Wendy Davis.
It's the first time in Texas history women have led a major party's ticket for the state's top offices — and only the fourth time in U.S. history.
The pharmacist and mother of six's running is little surprise. Van de Putte hasn't refuted months of rumors she'd enter the race.
