Shallowater will mark the 100th anniversary of its origin during a celebration from 3 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, with activities centered primarily around the Community Club House and its park area near City Hall, 801 Ave. G.
Also, the First United Methodist Church, next door to the east, plans to celebrate its 90th birthday on Sunday, Aug. 18, with Sunday School at 9:45 a.m., worship service at 10:45, and a luncheon following.
