BEAUMONT (AP) — A former Texas human services worker has been sentenced to a year in federal prison for stealing from people getting food stamp benefits.
Prosecutors in Beaumont say 62-year-old Melva Darlene Blakemore of Diboll in March pleaded guilty to theft of federal funds. The ex-senior investigator with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission was sentenced Friday and ordered to repay more than $27,000.
