The Former Texas Rangers Association is scheduled to present a memorial cross at the grave of former Ranger and pioneer Col. Charles Goodnight at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at the grave site about 40 miles east of Amarillo off U.S. 287.
The public is invited to the event.
“Goodnight made his name with cattle, but few people know that he served as a Texas Ranger twice,” said Joe Davis, president of the Former Texas Rangers Foundation.
“Remembering him this weekend is a way to say we haven’t forgotten his service.”
