AUSTIN (AP) — A driver has been sentenced to five years in prison over a wreck that claimed the life of a man walking on a Central Texas trail and left another pedestrian hurt.
A judge in Austin on Monday sentenced 22-year-old Joseph Rosales in a plea agreement. Rosales pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the May 2012 accident on the Butler Hike and Bike Trail in Austin.
Rosales told police he fell asleep when his vehicle struck 80-year-old John Griffith and 42-year-old Diana Pulido. Griffith later died.
