Considering there are more than 2,000 four-year colleges and universities in America, Texas Tech’s ranking of 47th in the nation among universities conferring bachelor’s degrees to Hispanic students is impressive.
The ranking was for the 2011-12 school year, when 719 Hispanic students were among the Red Raiders who received bachelor’s degrees that year.
Looking at it from a different perspective makes the number look even better. In the previous year, 598 Hispanic students graduated from Tech. The 719 graduates a year later represented a 20 percent increase.
