While more than 200 people in seven states including Texas have been affected by a parasite called Cyclospora, Lubbock is Cyclospora-free.
Beckie Brawley, public health manager for the Lubbock Health Department, said no cases have been reported in Lubbock.
Christine Mann, spokesperson for the department of state health services, said 75 cases have been reported to the state health department within the past two weeks as of 2 p.m. Wednesday.
“On average we have about 10 to 12 reported cases a year,” Mann said. “Seventy-five is higher than our annual average.”
