AUSTIN
Fire department officials say a discarded cigarette caused a fire at an Austin apartment complex that displaced about 50 residents.
KXAN-TV reported the fire, which broke out around 6 a.m. Thursday, caused about $350,000 in damage. No injuries were reported.
Austin Fire Department spokesman Palmer Buck said the apartment complex didn’t have any sprinklers.
