A little less than a year ago, the Lubbock City Council was considering changing the evaluation process of its three highest salaried employees — city manager, city attorney and city secretary.
Yearly evaluations of the three employees — the only employees who are hired directly by the City Council — was a good idea then, and it still is. We wish the council had taken care of that piece of business last summer.
Nothing can be done about 2012’s business now, but an annual evaluation process for the three positions should be put into place as soon as possible.
