This session's winners and losers in education

AUSTIN (AP) — More than 920 education bills were filed this legislative session, easily outpacing any other topic. Some 119 passed, but four things stand out.

There were lingering funding questions after 2011’s $5.4 billion cut to public schools.

There were also much-watched proposals to transform high school standardized testing and curriculum standards, expand charter schools and authorize vouchers letting students use public money to attend private school.

The results? Lawmakers reversed the 2011 public education funding reductions by nearly $4 billion.
