AMARILLO — A woman was killed after two vehicles hit a cow early Wednesday on U.S. 287 near Childress, authorities said.
About 12:45 a.m., Sarah Elizabeth Hopkins, 21, of Crandall, was standing outside of a vehicle parked near the left shoulder of the highway after it collided with the cow a mile east of the Childress-Hardeman County line, authorities said.
A 2006 Ford Expedition, driven by Claude Edward Stoner of Halletsville, also struck the cow and traveled toward the left shoulder after losing control, authorities said.
